The conceptualisation of Top500: South Africa’s Best Companies arose as a result of the demand for a publication that ranks business in South Africa on the basis of a broad-based set of performance criteria, rather than purely on quantitative financial data. The challenge has been to profile leading businesses – in terms of global and South African best practice standards – that not only excel in their specific sectors, but which also have a strong set of social, empowerment and development policies inplace. Top500 is an annual B2B publication that identifies companies achieving the highest level of performance and success.
